If you give someone a link to view through email, can that user get to your computer or something through that link if they know how

Not through the link. But it is always possible to trace an email back to its owner. The link does not matter.

However, this is a good question because a lot of people ask it. The fact is, nobody can get into your machine unless you accidentally allow them to. That can be done in a number of ways, but the main way is through software that they ask you to download.

I should also mention that this normally wouldnt happen anyway. The fact is, if you or anyone else is worried about that then you or them should not be. Basic security works very well, and comes free with your router. Anything else should be delt with by anyone who knows how. That is only when you know there is a threat.

Simple answer is no. A link is a road map to another location. You are simply providing a set of coordinates for them for them to go where you direct them.
As for getting in to your system from back hacking the link, it wouldn't work. The link doesn't point to your computer.

"nobody can get in to your system" "basic security works very well" Um famous last words Draygoes. Is that why you hide behind a proxy?
