I've heard more about Viewsonic and have one on my main tower. They would be my preference, but I'm sure both have their good and bad monitors...

Rather than basing it off the brand, look for reviews on the specfic monitor you're thinking about.

get the Viewsonic, much better quality and a trusted name brand. I've never heard of Sceptre.

Is there any problems with having a widescreen monitor? Like, when a game is set to a certian resolution, will there be black bars on the sides, or will it automatically stretch the picture?

i think it stretches.. i think.. Viewsonic is a good brand and have been trusted for their quality and performance.. But this shows the contrast ration being larger on the spectre so i am not sure what you should get cuz. its eith you get viewsonic and its almost guarenteed not to break down or the spectre that know one has heard of that has a bit higher ratio.
