i remember in 1997 i played blood on a laptop, and it looked like trash, but that was back with LCDs sucked, and mice had trails no matter what, whats it like now?

Well, if you get a really high-end LCD, such as this one:

It shouldn't be a problem, however it costs a pretty penny...

yeah if you get a very expensive one the it would be ok. LCD is mainly for less space and looks. It's really not the best for videogaming.

CRT monitors do the best in the videogaming area.

if you get at least a 16ms response time, it shouldn't be a problem

i have a 16ms response time and a 450:1 contrast ratio and am very pleased with games on my lcd

That's interesting, cuz i'm about to buy an LCD monitor to.
I'm likely to buy a 17" monitor and probably a cheap one, however, what kind of prices am i looking at?

It all really depends on the person. I have friends who have a 16ms LCD and they cant see any ghosting at all, but I can. I just say go with a CRT.

Ill have a 19" 25 ms. 1000:1 contrast. (Samsung) (Or is it 20 msbit unsure now. cant find the manual)

In the begining it was a notisable ghost.
but i kinda got used to it.

I do noticed when its a longe time since i played.
and its only noticable on u2k4 and bf1942.
Never noticed on videos.

meh.. expensive, doesn't always mean great.. and this is a good case of that.

If you want an lcd for games, I would recommend atleast 700:1 contrast ratio and a response time below 15ms. Anything below 10 is great.

oh, and i notice DVI monitors tend to have a higher response time ... is this good or bad, do i want DVI or analog?
