Is there a way to tell when looking at the specs of a computer if it will be able to handle higher demands of processing but run cooler than another laptop doing the same functions? I run AutoCad & Revit a lot and my laptop gets really hot doing it.
Also, I am guessing the overheating comes from the cpu?

1. yes, but usually all computers are built so, that they will not get overheated, but if it still happens, there must be something wrong with some components or with using. For example not cleaned computer and it is full of dust and fat.
2. how much is "really hot" and what parts gets really hot - CPU, RAM, motherboard itself, hard drive, etc
3. guessing don't help, You must know what is the real temperature. And even, if Your guessing is true, You must know the reason of it.
