Laptop Screen replacement

I have a laptop where the screen goes blank when it is moved, the display from the vga port works fine.

when it goes blank both the display and the backlight goes off
after rebooting the display comes back on imadiatly

i'm not sure if its the cable or the panel that is faulty?

Sounds like the screen itself is the problem and not the connection. make sure all the video drivers are installed and updated. it may be something you have installed recently such as a remote login program. I had problems like your suggesting and it was due to the software i recently installed. you could try a restore to a date that you can remember it working or even try a whole system recovery.

Are you sure the lcd itself is shutting off and not just the backlight?

An inverter is a cheap fix. a motherboard or lcd.... not so much.

I have updated the drivers, i can't do a restore as the hdd was recently formated

its defently the lcd and the backlight going off, i have tried putting a torch were the backlight is and its completely blank.

a replacement screen is not too expensive about £60

i have fixed the problem, it was a faulty connector on the backlight power cable

I was going to post for a connector issue. Over time, connectors can come loose.
