Hi, ive read the sticky guide on overclocking at the top of the page and im wondering if overclocking a laptop is the same?

Say, i want to overclock my Core 2 duo 1.6Ghz intel chip in my latop to 2.0Ghz, what do i need to do?

i downloaded CPUID and this is my processor ----->

Might be a bit of a stupid useless question but im curious :D ta from UMASS

Please don't even try, unless you want to void your warranty and fry your notebook at the same time.

yeah...you can't really OC a laptop...I've already tried doing that with mine :(

The thing about overclocking a laptop is that most BIOS just don't have the options to do so and there is no way to remove the increased heat created by the higher voltages needed by a faster running CPU.

Yea, as AR said, with a desktop you can just whack a big hsf on it and OC to as far as your brave enough to go. With a laptop it's normally already tuned to it's best performance/heat ratio. Unless you have really confident hack skills, don't bother.

You may be able to overclock OCZ laptops, but I think it would be safe to assume that you don't want to buy a new one.
