Is it possible to upgrade processors in laptops? The CPU for my laptop is an intel pentium 4 HT 3Ghz in a toshiba satellite pro P10 laptop.

I know that for a desktop, you have to consider the motherboard to see if the board supports the CPU upgrade

Is it the same thing for laptops?

The problem with upgrading the CPU in a laptop is that you have to take every single other component out in order to remove the processor. This is a huge pain, and it's very easy to screw up your laptop in the process. It's also a pain to get it back together.

I wouldn't recommend it, but it is possible. Refer to your manufacturer's site for instructions on taking apart your laptop.

You're right, just as with desktops, laptops use different motherboard sockets. You'll need to find out what socket your CPU is, and get a matching one for the upgrade.

What Kind of laptop do you have? I Know with Most Laptop Manufacturers you can get a service manual for your laptop, very handy when it comes to these type of things.
