Thanks for the tips! My last laptop had the crappiest battery ever after a while. Maybe it was because I ALWAYS (I mean always) left it plugged in.

Well if it was Li-Ion keeping it plugged in wouldn't have any effect.

My laptops battery drains unusually fast when not in use. If I leave it in it's case for a week or 2 after fully charging next time I use it it is at anywhere from 10-60% full is that normal. my laptop is an HP

How old is it and what type of battery?

1 year old lithium ion battery

And do you or did you use it very often? Li-Ion batteries have a tendency to lose charge if not used at a fairly quick pace after about 100-200 charges.

not too often about once every week and a half but it hardly ever runs on the battery. Does this mean my battery is dying?

Simplist thing to do with a battery is unplug it when its at its fullest charge....if this is done youll have a long lasting battery.
