Laptop Backlight?

Hi,

I have had my laptop for about 2 or 3 years now, however recently the backlight went, so the screen is too dim for me to see, but if i squint i can just about see the things on the screen... any ideas?

check the power settings in the control panel..

They are ccfl lights and use an inverter just like add on lights for a desktop system. In the case of the laptop they are unique to the display and have to be taken to a repair shop to be replaced. Or it could be the inverter has died. In either case unless you can get your hands on a replacement screen, and you know what you're doing, the best bet is to send it in to be serviced.
