OK. I'm after a new desktop, don't need a monitor or anything just the base. But I'm not exactly an expert when it comes to PCs, I've been told it's best to customise it, I was recommended this website by a friend and created this and would like an opinion or two on it, would you be happy to pay + use it day in day out? If not, what would you change/add etc...

Also, that would come with a ethernet slot, right?

Oh almost forgot to add, buget of around £500 (inc vat). Thats GBP.

THAT IS AWFUL!!! my 6 year old computer is almost as good, lol. well mainly cause of the GPU.

you should really buy parts seperatly and put it together, MUCH CHEAPER with better quality.

If this is JUST for net use & word docs..... you could build something MUCH MUCH cheaper......

Case (w/ 400W PSU): Rosewill R604TBLK-N Black Steel ATX Mid Tower - $45

Motherboard (integrated video): Gigabyte GA-8VM800PMD-775 Socket T - $51

CPU: Intel Celeron D 326 Prescott - $47

Memory: CORSAIR ValueSelect 512MB DDR2 - $36

Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda SATA 120GB 7200 RPM - $57

Burner: Pioneer Black DVD Burner (DVD+/-R(W) - $36

Floppy (with memory card reader): MITSUMI 3.5" digital card reader and Floppy Drive - $20

$292 US dollars before shipping... :D
(thats just under 160 GBP) :D

500 GBP is JUST under $1000 US Dollars....

EDIT: that ASROCK motherboard you have listed in your initial post is GARBAGE... I wouldn't give it the time of day.

I understand that Newegg ships only to US & PR...... it was an example showing that a PC could be assembled for less than half the price that would do everything he/she wants it to do... It also has model numbers which can be searched for on sites that ship to the UK for reference... :D

k here are correct prices

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Intel_Celeron.html first one here

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Asus_177.html the fifth one in this list

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Corsair_XMS2_Memory.html
the second last one there

the just pick whichever hard drive and case u want, and here is a psu

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Antec_Cases.html the second one

in total it should all cost about.....400 pounds maximum, and u get better quality parts.

OK, here, I updated this... no reason for more than 500 MB of ram, or Corsair XMS memory on a system like this... Here is a similarly priced system available in Europe.. I'm glad I don't live in Europe...

Case (w/ 360W PSU): Asus TA-210 Series Midi Tower (Black) - 360W PSU (CA-004-AS) (FIRST on page) - $38

Motherboard / CPU / Memory: Intel Celeron D 326 2.53GHz Retail / Asus P5VD1-X / 512MB Geil PC3200 Dual Channel Kit - Bundle (BU-035-OK) (FIRST on page)
- $113

Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 120GB ST3120813AS SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM (HD-054-SE) (SECOND on page) - $45

Burner: Liteon DRW-6S160P-05C 16x16 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM (CD-059-LO) (SIXTH on page) - $22

Floppy (with memory card reader): Mitsumi FA 404M 7in1 USB 2.0 Floppy & Media Drive - Silver (HD-000-MI) (FIRST on page) - $15

$233 GBP WITH VAT.... The ONLY thing that would be needed is a copy of Windows.
