ive been playing with my kid and its consistently lags and freezes

we re on same wifi. wifi is very good signal but the game always lags
a lot of times it disconnects and then doesn't connect back to server or it keeps lagging behind.
or throw me back 10-15 seconds back

I don't have problems watching 4k movies on Netflix or youtube so the connection shouldn't be a problem
both PCs are well above need specs in memory cpu and graphics.
I tried it on my desktop and laptop and my kid's pc same issue

not sure how to troubleshoot it

Try a direct PC to PC connection with a lan cable, bypassing the router to test if that's the issue. Just manually set their IPs to 10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.2 with no default gateway entered for the test.

Some guys on a reddit thread also suggested downloading the dedicated server jar file and running the server with that

my laptop doesn't have lan cable.
and other pcs are in different rooms.
I have no other problems with wifi at all
its a usb storage I use it to listen to music on my devices and im watching 4k content with no problem

I tested to see how much it can take before crashing not the best way im sure lol
but opening about 30 windows of streaming porn videos is when my pc starts lagging a little bit.
and crashes when I have about 50 of them open with streaming videos
so the connection is not an issue

possibly the wifi card on my kid's PC but I don't know what to look for in that case.
I belive its the older one out of all the parts
he has identical PC to mine in specs I built one for me and same one for him for gaming except his wifi card and hes still on non ssd system drive which I need to upgrade

Minecraft is surprisingly disk IO dependent, and it isn't sequential like movies. Is the USB a spinning disk or SSD?
Check disk write / read during these events.
