Do you think the VR headset technology will take off and be the next big thing? Will it surpass the current gaming systems we have right now and what sort of impact do you think it will have on our lives? HTC reckons it will not only successfully transform video gaming, but also the ways in which we interact with the world and how we communicate with each other.
It does sound plausible that it will become a common household item in the next 5-10 years, similar to tablets and smartphones before it.

VR / AR is the final platform.

It's not a case of 'if' it will be successful. Or even how successful. It's just a case of when. It's pretty much an inevitability. The potential to have a virtual world with no limits is just far too empowering to be unsuccessful. The use cases are pretty much endless, with every industry benefiting.

Yeah we'll also need a wider field of view than the Rift DK2 provides. And higher res screens. And super beefy computers. But now that we've hit pretty much a plateau on how good games can look, I think it's the logical next step to focus on VR and player / world interactions
