i have been using yahoo mail since like 1998 and just recently they implemented the dumbest security where it keeps refering me to my old inactive email as backup that i have no access to
and yahoo mail tech support seems to be only for premium users.
essentially they cut me out of my email

i dont want to have to deal with that again and there is always at least one device that i have that is online i should not have a problem with receiving emails if i created my own private email server and i was wondering if there is already a service liek that or i can easily set one up that is a part of OS already?
or any other way i can be not dependent on online email service so i dont have to be locked out of my email again.

ok so i was googling more about this, and i thought someone must have already made hardware for home servers that have built in email server?
because ideally i wanted to create a personal server at home for as many things as i can including fileserver and email server, possibly a server for security cameras so i dont have to use some chinese scamporation servers

does such thing exist? i dont even know what keywords to search for

I am sure you can easily do various internet searches for either straight up pay operating systems other than MS for small end servers such as this or a linux distro for small home servers.

Probably just go to 2-3 most popular linux forums and get all the information you need.

Or if it's just email you can probably configure a old laptop or older desktop on windows 7 for those protocols as I think most of the simple stuff is already windows services that if are not already turned on can be turned on and configured.
