i am sure he did not literally mean that your computer has 2x psu's with 800W each... course that would be wrong and stupid.
I did not find many 550ti SLI benchmarks, but for what a can gather a 550ti SLI setup will perform more or less like a GTX 570 if the game has acceptable SLI support. A GTX 570 is perfectly fine for any game with great details.
