internet connection speed help

Hey im new to this site...
Problem: My dial up internet connection says it is connected at 155.2 kbps in the notification area in the windows toolbar, but it is going through a 33.6 kbps modem... is this modem slowing the internet speed... if so can someone please suggest how i should fix this?

155.2 kbps
is impossible with standard dialup
Only supported with dsl or cable.
56k is the highest one can expect with standard dialup.

I think you have got mixed up somewhere

yeah; something is up with that; 156kbps is a bit faster than most old ISDN Connections.

are you shure it does'nt say 155.2 bps ....
that would make more sence, since bits per second.....and kilo-bits per second are 2 different speeds.
