Hey Guys,

Just a quick query, more social than a problem but here goes.

What happened to the Sockets in the Intel series of CPUs?

Now I believe we are primarily on 1155

a couple of years ago we were on 775 and prior to that the good old 478s (that's as far as my experience stretches back).

Whats with 1156 / 2011 and 1366?

Cheers

yeah it kinda suck with all the sockets intel have been making lately.
especially the 1156 and 1155. those are only 1 pin in difference.

The 1156 mainly use the p55, H55 and Z67 chipsets. it supports all First generation Core-I CPU's and some Xeon's

The 1366 uses the X58 only. it supports it's own first generation i7's, some xeons and it's own i7 extreme's.

The 1155 mainly use the P67, H61 and Z77. it supports all second AND third generation Core-I CPU's and some Xeon's

The 2011 uses the X79 only. supports it's own second and third generation i7's, some xeons and it's own i7 extreme's.
