Did you guys here about this? Unbelievable. Apparently, Intel has a fully functional SRAM chip using the very small 45nm technology. They are proving that they are indeed on schedule to offer 45nm processors in the second half of 2007. The 153 Mb SRAM chip manufactured contains more than 1 billion transistors!!!!! Wow..

"Intel's 45nm process technology will allow chips with more than five times less leakage power than those made today. This will improve battery life for mobile devices and increase opportunities for building smaller, more powerful platforms."

I've heard about this as well... It's very interesting...
Intel has always been the king in Manafacturing compared to AMD. However, that 45nm process (or their upcoming 32nm process) won't help Intel much in performance. We'll see what happens.

Okay, with die shrinks come performance. Obviously die shrinks dont affect performance directly. For the enthusiat, die shrinks are ALWAYS welcome.
