Installing Nvidia drivers (linux)

That about sums it up. I got the files using Symantics from this site

https://launchpad.net/~nvidia-vdpau/+archive/ppa

and installed/downloaded the drivers. Now I don't see anything in System>Administrator>Hardware Drivers, and don't know what else to do. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I really just need some step by step copy paste instructions. I can learn how to use all of this when I have a res bigger than 640x480 >_>

Which version of Ubuntu are you using? Did you configure xorg file?

It's hardy heron, 8.04 I believe. I'm really really unfamiliar with this all, so I have no clue what the xorg file even is. I have all of my current progress posted in the thread I posted.

Thank you for the guide, I would try it but I don't know what this stinkin xorg program is
