If a processor was dead would a laptop still power on (Light up etc)

How loose is the DC jack in the laptop? The cord itself might be fine, but if the jack came off of the board then that would explain why there is no power or anything.

The DC jack is the plug in type. connects via a socket. this is working as i have probed the motherboard past the DC socket and i get 19 volts. the DC socket is fine. it must be a problem with the board.
