hello i have a ibm laptop it's a thinkpad t42.

ok so i put the battery in and it says that it is at 46% and charging. it has said that for about 2 hours now. when i unplug the cord the computer goes off instantly.

on the laptop itself the battery light is at constant orange. when i have the laptop off with the battery and power cord in, it flashes on and off orange.

can anyone help me please???

are the actuall lithium batteries dead??

thanks. any help is greatly appreciated.

As frost said. If it's a T4X series, that's now pretty old. And that's how lithium batteries can behave when there at the end of their life.

Time to replace it my friend.

I'd try ebay, you can get reasonably priced compatible ones, but checked the sellers feedback, because you can get some good and some bad imports. I've had to buy compatibles for dells and a X40 IBM. The dell compatible was superb, lasted longer than the orginal, the X40 was about the same, but never calibrated properly (it would take minutes dropping from 100% to 60% but then 2 hours draining to empty).

Just look about, probably get a decent replacement for about £35.

Hope thats of some help.

Chris.
