As long as he has partitioned correctly he could have windows by it self on 1 partition and all his files on another. Although most of his software wont work they will need reinstalling. The hijackthis log looks clean too so its an odd one.

If i remember right i partitioned it correctly but i minght be wrong but hey worst comes to worst i only lost a couple hundred dollars in music...

copy it too dvds if you can.

also go to start then run and type: diskmgmt.msc

It will bring up what partitions you have on your drive and can see if your music is safely out of your windows partition, which is normally the C: drive.

nope i guess i didnt partition this drive correctly (maybe that was on my last installation of windows)

you could create a new partition move your music too it and just format the windows one so you keep your files.

ok I use norton partition magic 8.0 this is a free trial of it not sure if it will allow you full access to split a partition.
