yeah if you have a really good portfolio, but chances are unless your an Ansel Adams prodigy, you're portfolio won't be as good as a college student who's gone through the steps and has a variety of different styled shots that are all well edited and such.

but a degree gets you a job..

tell that to the million or so college grads that dont have jobs.

well that's a bit of a generic statement that also applies to people without a degree..

yes my point is that a degree in and of itself doesnt get you a job. by a long shot.

right. well if you drank your way through college and the only thing you got out of it was a huge bill and a drinking habit, then of course you'll be a second choice to someone who knows what's going on.. But still, a college degree will generally give you an advantage over someone without one depending on the career of course.

i do think so, depending on the career path. in a lot of sense a college degree shows more knowledge than most other things. If you're running a business and you're looking to hire a district manager, you're going to look for someone with a BA or Masters in business, not the high school kid who ran the S.A.D.D club at school and managed the finances and stuff.. That's my thinking anyway.
