I NEED a new, NON MICROSOFT O.S.

I have ABSOLUTELY HAD IT with Microsoft! their intrusiveness, wanting so much personal identification, has pushed me BEYOND the breaking point. I am 100% certain that if there was a way for them to get my DNA they would REQUIRE IT! And for what? I wanted to buy a $0.99 app! I need an easy to learn (for a 67 year old man) linux based O.S. And some sort of tutorials to help me learn it. Also, is there a way to permanently remove the windows 10 o.s. that is on my hard drive now? PLEASE HELP! I want to BURN every shred of microsoft software in my home.

I'll be 67 next month and I also can not stand Windows 10. When I switched to 10 I just pulled out my nvme drive with 7 on it and popped in another nvme drive and installed 10. I'm very tempted to pop in my W7 drive and be happy but....I know that W7 will be more difficult to use soon because more and more software will eventually stop W7 support. I used Linux Mint for a while ago (years?) and I found it more to be like windows but it is not windows. I had to manually install a printer driver, but it was not that difficult. You can google for Linux OS' and see if there is anything that suits your needs. If you can afford a new hard drive then remove your windows drive and save it, you can pull off your other data later and install Linux version on a new drive to just test it out. Drives have become relatively cheap by toady's standards

You could try Ubuntu, one of the more popular ones out there, a lot of guides and topics about it... It is a bit different, but fairly easy to pick up as far as basics go.

That or go the Mac route...

But I will say this, almost everyone is making this extreme push into telemetry data...
