i need a codec

hi guys
how do i know what codec i need to play a movie ive got
i use VLC player

one of the files types is .bin and one is an image file but i tried to burn the image file and error message came up,
but this is a strange thing because when i open up the .bin in vlc or nero showtime it plays but it not the correct codec

Have you gotten the K-Lite codec pack? It comes with all the codecs you'd ever need. Well, at least until new ones come out in the future
