18.9" x 8" x 17.2" as rig size.

If you have suggestions for better parts (none needed for video/sound cards, but for harddrives, optical drives, memory, processors, and power supply), please post them here, but keep in mind I want this computer under $1500.

Thanks!

Looks like everything will work. It's not a high end PC or anything like that but it will work fine for your day-to-day computing needs.

id get one optical drive, or one good one and another cheap cheap one. that will save you money. depending on what this computer is for, id elaborate on other parts, but the things that i would change are: hard drive (you dont really need that much space unless you save a lot of video files), video card (useless for the most part use money from other items to upgrade), ram (try getting 2x512 if one gig is all you need dual channel will help you).
have you tried building a comparable amd config? that might change your mind.

u could make a much better pc than that for under $1500, what i would get is a thermaltake sorprano case, DFI ultra D motherboard, amd 64 3500+ cpu, OCZ gold gx 2x512mb pc3200 ram, evga 7800gt vid card, segate 160gb sata2 hard drive, same optical drives, same sound card, OCZ modstream 520W power supply, same cooling and windows xp pro and all that will come to less than $1500 but it completely owns what u put before

how about these parts instead:
asus a8n 5x http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131569
amd 64 3500 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103533
ocz a gb 512x2 ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227069
sony dru810a optical drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827131261
evga geforce 6600le 256 mb http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130253
antec sonata w/ 450 watt power supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811129155
wd 160gb sata 3.0GB/s http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144415
creative sound blaster 2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829102179
secont optical drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827135136
total is: $879.4, and this set up completely rocks the intel one you made. just a suggestion.
dont really need cooling with such a system in my opinion, but this provides a lot more performance.

and if you can spare another few hundred dollars you can make a superb machine. i mean top ranking video cards, sound cards, cpu. everything is so cheap these days, so dont worry about spending a few more dollars because the performance increase is alot

in fact with an oem version of windows xp pro you can install these three upgrades and still be at your $1500 mark:
ASUS Radeon X850 XT PE
CORSAIR XMS 2-3-3-6 1 GB 2x512
AMD Athlon X2 3800+

Alright, let's just say this... I've lowered the price to a maximum of $1200.

And I'm not sure, but isn't AMD only faster than intel when it comes to dual core?

at the price of your processor i would look for the pentuim processor 1 watt (a 3GHz procesor acts like a AMD athalon 6GHz processor

Is that a good or bad thing? Additionally, which is faster when it DOESN'T come to dual core... AMD or Intel?

It varies by application and protocol. But in reality, speed doesn't mean much. AMD processors use a shorter pipeline, thus, they are more efficient. They don't need to run at the speeds of the Pentium4, and thus consume less energy and produce less heat, but produce the same results. In all honesty, a Pentium4 is a very bad choice in today's market, due to their shabby at best, EM64 technology, and extremely inefficient crossbar and or memory access interface (depending on core config and numbers). HT is a good technology, but not as wide reaching as HyperTransport, which helps to speed the computer as a whole. I hope this helps in the decision making process.

Uhh.. what??? That makes absolutely no sense.... a single (1) watt processor??? Uhh... NO. I think somewhere along the lines, your facts got a "bit" twisted, or you completely lost your train of thought.
