How to increase USB power in ubuntu

I'm trying to pull a few pictures from my BB curve on my Eee PC, but I get an error that not enough power is being supplied. How can I increase it? thanks.

go into your sysfs directory
/sys/bus/usb/devices/.../power/ where "..." <-where the device is
write power/autosuspend to -1 or power/level to on will prevent that autosuspend

It doesn't detect it at all though.

It does for like 1/2 second then kicks it off.

on your motherboard there are probably some labeled jumpers that let you select USB power if they are not labeled you are going to have to go to the motherboards website to get the manual
