How have your views changed?

Like I said it was a quote "VERY" simple example.

I'm sorry to drag this back onto focus, but I just want to say this, and it's more or less a different topic. It's really one of my paradigms regarding discussions. People should not make examples that don't accurately manifest the meaning of an idea. While your example may have been "simple", it was not accurate. Simplicity does not inherently mean accuracy. I just want to you be aware of that because on this forum that would save a lot of trouble.

how 'bout that jolly holiday spirit, ehh?

This is precisely why we should all avoid the political threads. I admit I value my own political opinion too much and would try to force it on everyone else. I still do sometimes.

As for my last post on this subject, I apologize if and probably is my example was in accurate.

As far as the president being cannon fodder for criticism from people who don't know what they're talking about, and the ones who do... that is completly true. In fact its part of being a leader and that is something that I've learned while doing my Reserve Officer Training Corps program, as a leader sometimes you just gotta make the decision. There will ALWAYS being people out there disagreeing with whatever you did.

This can be seen in completly obvious ways. When Bush was in office, it was the democrats turn to point fingers and call the people who disagree with them "nazis" and a tyrannical government full of oppression. And now I see republicans doing the SAME EXACT thing with Obama, calling his administration oppressive and tyrannical and communist thrown in there now and again. When in fact this false fear created amongst our own conscious minds is a fake front to grab attention and neither administration is actually tyrannical or similar to Hitler NOT EVEN CLOSE. Socialism is seen as THE WORST THING EVER!!! When in fact several countries are completely successfull with it, I guess its where your interests lie. Personally I'll defend this country either way.

Idk, the thing that bugs me more than any administration is the ignorant citizens that make false arguments based not on research and being educated but how they percieve the world and what THEY get out of the policies instead of looking at the aim of the policies. Radio talk show hosts are the worst of the worst, its like scrapping the burnt crap off the bottom of the pot.

I heard Micheal Savage the other day say that Islam wasn't a religion... I watch the over dramatic Glenn Beck throw crap around the news room to get viewers and same thing with Jim Kramer, pressing buttons and making goofy noises to get people to believe him and watch their shows. But what they all fail to realize is that people actually listen and BELIEVE what they say instead of actually going out, reading a book, being educated on the topic and UNDERSTANDING how it all works. But no, they want it the easy way so they'll just listen to some guy on TV or the Internet or radio to get all their information no matter how ignorant he/she is and believe it to be fact.

This is why I love John Stewert sooooo much cause he points out the absurdity of what people say and do! He was making fun of the Tea party people one episode and how they were meeting at Pizza Hut to discuss this stuff and from what I saw they were not an educated bunch of people... but they were ranting off on how Obama's administration was tyrannical and oppresive with no supporting evidence.. unless you count mindless shouting supporting evidence. I mean really people? I swear they were about to grab pitch forks and torches and go burn down the houses of ALL DEM COMMIES AND NAZIS!

What really pissed me off was when Nancy Polleisi (however you spell her name) told off a General to not call her "ma'am" but Senator because she "earned that tittle." As a four star General especially being in charge of all the AO, you have AT LEAST 30 years of service in the military, and is responsible for and has led several hundered thousand people into battle... and she is putting him in his place? Please woman sit down you have nothing on this guy. And its just because she makes his paychecks to him. Let me just remind you who is doing the real work out there SENATOR.

Everyone now a days seems so freaking dramatic. People care waaaay too much about the fact that Tiger Woods hit a tree and was potentially cheating on his wife. WHO CARES! Thats his stuff and just because it happened to a specific person all of a sudden its like its never happened before. People are worried if Taylor Swift is dating that one dude from New Moon or whatever. WHO CARES?! We are in how much debt? Are our Foreign policies progressing or getting worse? We have troops in a "conflict" in the middle east and yet we are worried about if Jessica Biel is pregnant? EVERY FREAK OUT RIGHT NOW!

But back to politics. I'm a very independant person. I laugh at the left side and the right side's absurd opinions, thoughts, feelings, and statements. Both sides make equally ignorant statements. I guess General George Washington was right when he warned us about bipartisanship goverments.

and if you just read ALL of that then wow... props to you cause that was a lot of reading! lol :)

I did read all of that and thank you for posting it. Where I may disagree with part of it, I also agree with part of it.
Where I do agree Glenn beck can be extremely over dramatic with his news.
He does have very significant and true facts.

For example his news on Obama's former or continued support for the organization Acorn; and all of the laws they were breaking.
Some of the talk about how the new health bill actually STOPS the US from importing from other drug companies one of the things Obama actually said he would seek once elected. Although I am not sure that story was on Glenn beck as much as it was just on Fox news.
About Obama's adviser he had, that actually ended up with his resignation; because of the facts that were being found out.

I am not talking about his raving over dramatic comments.

Haha naturally. Hmmmm I haven't heard Acorn before. Idk, I guess when I see the cover of his book on disk of him dressed like a Nazi it gets me a little... I guess suspicious of his credibility when he starts the dramatic stuff. Yeah he might just get it straight off Fox and then just throw in his act and opinion and bam, he has a TV show.

I don't remember even stating that they were poor Muz! They could have been rich (not likely) but they could have been. If you had some people driving their car on your back yard and start to setup a camp site fire and all.
You would not offer them a "hot meal" or a "place to stay" I don't care what the hell you tell me. No one does that. Especially after they repeatedly told my cousin "NO" when he asked them to remove themselves from his land.
.
well i was assuming that in the way you told the story these people where poor .
maybe over here in the UK people are a bit more friendly . however if i found some people camping on my land and apart from being their illegally they where not causing me any other nuisance i would ask them first why they where there and what they where doing not just simply demand they leave , if it did turn out they where just looking for a place to camp for the night i wouldnt have an issue with them doing so on my land as long as it caused me no nuisance . This is something that a friend of mine who goes cycle touring around england often does , approaching land owners and asking them if he could camp on their land for the night , quite often they are a lot more hospitible than your cousin sounds and he has told me tales of the farmhouse breakfasts he has had and the terrific hospitality that he has recieved maybe its a more english or european thing to do being hospitible who knows

I agree completely that too much of the electorate is more interested in the latest celeb gossip than they are about the actual issues in the world for instance the climate change summit i havent seen as much news coverage about that as i would liked to have stuff like that is especially frustrating and shows that some of the electorate are clearly basing their decision on who to vote for based on either a party basis or who is more charismatic which should be one factor but not the sole one for deciding this kind of voting does not truley represent the will of the people in terms of policy that they would like to see

It's posted all over the property.
How don't you see that story and the relation to Obama?
I see the link. the link is that there are idiots in this world, who somehow thought that there being a black socialist president was somehow going to change the US of A into some kind of socialist utopia where ownership was just a concept to define the duty of a caretaker, where we all share and share alike.

your cousin should have executed those people, not for trespass but for being so bloody stupid.

This conversation is frought with peril. Many forums will not allow threads such as this to exist. Animosity is created between individuals with different beliefs. So far...I have not seen anything like this in this thread. And kudos to all for that. Let's keep it that way and have a good discussion.
we generally allow just about everything, things do get locked when they get out of hand, but there is pretty much no banned topic. (guns/drugs/politics/religion/sexual preference)... some topics are divisive, but in a strange way I think that actually brings people closer together...

But how the hell did he get the Nobel Peace Prize for his so called "Call to Action"? I'm very disappointed with the committee who gave him the prize. You would think that he would actually have to execute his plan to become eligible.
it gets worse... the Nobel prizes are short-listed in the autumn, he would have been short-listed for the prize almost to the day that he was elected.

so he was short-listed for a prize based on a manifesto pledge.

Also maybe you should read up on Communism [Wiki]
Basically just by reading the very beginning it states. What's yours is mine whats mine is yours.
Feels like sharing and gives you a nice warm feeling inside right? So when I need cancer treatment I take it out of your cash. So you have less money.
But then you must take it from some where else because I took yours, when you come down with the flu and must stay in bed for a week. This is just one VERY simple example.

good grief, if you could find a worse example I'd be thrilled to hear it? you even acknowledge that this is oversimplified and a terrible example... so why bother to list it as an example at all? -this is a classic political trick, you don't like a core principal of an opposition, so you take a policy, find a bad or distorted example of it and publish it as if it were fact...

like this whole idea of obamacare and "death panels" yes, there will be people who have to, in the end say. I'm sorry but your healthcare policy does not cover that, and will therefore ony cover palliative care from this point onwards.

that DOES happen in the NHS (NICE -National institute for clinical excellence) can decide that a drug is just far too expensive and can't possibly be recommended for treatment. -especially when talking about experimental, or marginal life extension drugs.
but this ALREADY happens with all kinds of private healthcare as well, there will be a board that will decide the upper limits, and whether you can get, (whether they will pay for) experimental drugs, or drugs with no other benefit than marginal life extension.

If you had some people driving their car on your back yard and start to setup a camp site fire and all.

I wouldn't offer them a hot meal either.

Yes YOUR damn ignorance.
ignorance how? because he didn't see how a bunch of campers, who happened to be black who thought it was OK to trespass if they uttered an inane party slogan were actually related to that party... what I would say is that I don't think that those few would be campers were actually indicitive of the vast amount of liberal party supporters.

Figures some people would ruin a just fine political thread because the thread poster said one rant.

Close this god forsaken thread before these numskulls(not pertaining anyone in particular) get another chance to ignore the word "RANT".
wow, you get pulled up on one rant, -that didn't even seem to make a lot of sense and now you want the thread closed...

in all fairness I don't believe it was easy for her to be a senator either. AND i believe that when a person earns a title that their work should be respected and they should be addressed and recognised correctly.

did she call the general "general", or "mister"? I assume general, four star general or not, he should have shown some common courtesy and addressed the senator as "senator".

perhaps the hospitality that your cousin sees whilst cycling is the result of asking rather than assuming, if someone knocked on my door and said can I just put a tent in your garden, I'll be gone in the morning and don't want anything from you other than the use of your garden to just lay down... I'd likely say yes, and in the morning I'd probably take them some coffee and set them up for the day.

on the other hand, if I just walked out of my house and found someone pitching a tent in my garden, I'd tell them in no uncertain terms where they should go.

Gah Root. I love how you put everything. So calm and collected - All from a set-back 3rd person view. It sounds like I'm kissing ass, but rather admiring how you can take such a heated conversation and rather than getting worked up and upset, find the truths and fallacies and put them in terms that everyone can see clearly.

Oh and gratz on almost 6k posts.
