how does windows media player 7 and mac work?

I've finally downloaded windows media player 7 onto my macintosh (G4 OS 9.2) The problem is I can't get it to work with anything compatible. Windows media player 7 is on the desktop but will not play window player media files that are supposed to download. Can anyone help me? thanks, aaron

umm actually i didnt know that windows media player even worked with Mac's i thought that the word "Windows" in windows media player would mean its only for that OS
