How do I run chkdsk in Vista?

Hey I can't figure out how to get my computer to reboot and run a chkdsk. I've tried typing Chkdsk in the search box then clicking it. All it does is pop a little screen up real fast then disappear. Same applys if I try and do chkdsk /f I thought that command was supposed to schedule it right? Anybody know what i'm doing wrong?

have you tried chkdsk /r from a command prompt?
