Can mobile games help kids to increase their mental skills and which can provide them with both entertainment and education?
The only thing they can offer is entertainment and pastime.
Generally, they inhibit development and do not provide any education.
In general, brain development is inhibited, with the exception of playing chess, sudoku and the like.
But I'm pretty sure you didn't mean them as games.
You probably meant those that inciting to kill, hate, steal, etc. But if you now think about it for yourself at least a bit, is this what you want to teach your children? Is this the education what they especially need?

Mobile games can indeed offer several benefits for children's mental skills when designed and chosen thoughtfully. Here are some ways in which mobile games can contribute to cognitive development:

1. **Problem-Solving**: Many mobile games involve puzzles, riddles, and challenges that require players to think critically and solve problems creatively. These games encourage kids to analyze situations, consider multiple solutions, and make informed decisions.

2. **Strategic Thinking**: Strategy games, like tower defense or simulation games, help children develop strategic thinking by requiring them to plan ahead, manage resources, and anticipate consequences.

3. **Memory and Concentration**: Memory-based games, such as matching pairs or memory card games, can enhance memory retention and concentration skills as players work to remember patterns and details.

4. **Spatial Awareness**: Games that involve navigation, construction, or spatial puzzles can improve a child's understanding of spatial relationships, geometry, and visual reasoning.

5. **Math and Logic**: Math-based games can reinforce mathematical concepts, while logic games foster logical reasoning and critical thinking.

6. **Creativity and Imagination**: Some mobile games encourage creativity by allowing children to design characters, build structures, or create virtual worlds. This enhances their imaginative thinking and artistic expression.

7. **Language and Vocabulary**: Word puzzles, crosswords, and language-focused games help kids expand their vocabulary, improve language skills, and enhance reading comprehension.

8. **Fine Motor Skills**: Games that require precise tapping, swiping, or dragging can help refine fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

9. **Adaptability and Resilience**: Challenging games teach children to adapt to new situations, learn from failures, and persevere to overcome obstacles.

10. **Social Interaction**: Multiplayer mobile games can encourage social interaction and cooperation among kids, fostering communication, teamwork, and empathy.

However, it's important to note that not all mobile games are created equal. To maximize the benefits while minimizing potential drawbacks, consider the following tips:

- **Educational Games**: Opt for games that are explicitly designed to be educational, focusing on specific skills you want to enhance.

- **Moderation**: Encourage limited screen time and ensure a healthy balance between mobile games and other activities.

- **Parental Involvement**: Parents can play a role in selecting appropriate games, guiding gameplay, and discussing lessons learned.

- **Age-Appropriate**: Choose games that match your child's age and developmental level to ensure they're both engaging and beneficial.

- **Quality Content**: Look for games with positive reviews, reputable developers, and a history of promoting learning and skill development.

- **Interactive Learning**: Use games as a supplement to other forms of learning, combining them with real-world experiences and educational activities.

Overall, mobile games can provide a valuable tool for enhancing mental skills in children, but responsible selection and moderation are key to harnessing their benefits effectively.
