I have been using a wireless linksys router with cable internet for several months now. The router belongs to the landlady so I have not changed any of the configuration settings yet. Recently, I have noticed that my connection has slowed. I have also noticed other computers in my "network neighborhood". I am living in an apartment building with other wireless users and I'm starting to think that they are taking up my wireless bandwidth. I already know how to configure the wireless router to prevent unauthorized use.

But, before I disconnect them, which programs would allow me to see who is using our wireless router and how much traffic they are placing on it?

This part get me...
The router belongs to the landlady so I have not
if it's her's, when did all of it become yours?

seems that thye would be sharing the connection with you. as in you are not the only user of it...
might consider talking with the landlady if you have a concern. versus doing it your self...

My router belongs to my landlady. The unauthorized users of the router live in a neighboring apartment. Since I am the only one who knows how to manage the router, I solved the problem by simply disabling wireless networking on the router -- I prefer wired connections.

Something still doesn't add up here...if it's YOUR connection, then why is your landlady giving you a wireless router for it?

:) I didn't expect to stir up such a discussion. My landlady provided the router as an enhancement to the apartment package ... it's a fully-furnished apartment.
