whats better AMD athlon or pentium processors??.....i have a 2ghz athlon..i have a old puter..but iv been told that a 2ghz athlon is as good as a 2.8ghz pentium, is that true?

You get more out of athlon than Pentium 4 per clock cycle. They're even a little better than the Pentium 3 per clock.

Athlon and Pentium 4 CPUs are somewhat old, though.

Both are old, but that athlon is better than a pentium.

The model number of the Athlon processor equates to the approximate speed of a pentium.... For instance, you might have an AMD Athlon 3000+, running at GHz, but the pentium equivalent would be 3GHz (3000MHz).

that just means that your CPU is equal to a pentium at 3.2Ghz

It's rated at 2.2Ghz but has the equiv. Performance of a 3.2Ghz Pentium 4 as sniperviper21 pointed out.
