HID Lights

It's not legal to stick HIDs in a vehicle not originally equipped with them. That said, I've never seen cops care as long as light output is controlled, so don't stick them in your stock headlights. You'll just blind everyone on the road and cause tempers to flare.

so i thought, i guess ill have to get projector lenses for them then.

i dont get why there illegal if your car isnt OEM for them, but some cars come OEM with them an that makes them legal.
its crap.

it's really clearcut in some areas, whilst being a little vague in others.

you can't just put the bulbs into existing headlamps. that's illegal.

But you can replace entire units, though they have to be safety marked if a scheme exists in your area for them to be road legal. (in the europe/UK this is E marking). if they aren't e marked it's not legal to have them on the road. (you'll find a different scheme in your area?).

you can retro fit entire units, (including the lenses). (kits are commonly known as Angel eyes). and these do tend to be legal as they have the levelling systems and correct lenses to produce a good beam pattern.
