Need help getting a SIIG 2-port firewire pcie card to function in a dimension 4700C. Someone ordered the machine without firewire ports. Dell told me I can use third parties, which I did. However, the 4700C power is SATA and the SIIG card id parallel ATA. Could not find the "y" cables I needed so I spliced into the existing. I've flashed the lastest bios update, which was supposedly going to solve my problem, but the machine will not boot with the card in place. Is it probabe that the existing transformer does not have enough output to supply power to the added card? Not an expert, but friendly advice is appreciated.

it could be not enough power to boot up. when there isn't enough power the computer usally restarts or become extremely slow though.

Thanks. I thought that might be the problem as well. Dell tech support couldn't tell me if the existing psu created enough output to handle the added card, so if figured I'd take the gamble before buying a larger one.
