Ok so i have an IBM T40 Laptop...not new but something used i got from a buddy. It turns on without any problems...works for abit then automatically freezes...just hangs.

What is the problem? I was told it could be simply a failed harddrive. If anyone can help me out that'd be great. I already swapped ram and it still freezes.

If you need more info, let me know...otherwise please help me get this thing running lolz :)

Does it freeze after a specific amount of time, everytime, while running certain applications or none of the above?

RAM usually BSODs the machine. All RAM theories aare out.

First off, the T4x/X4x has a lot of failing hard drives for sure. Check if you hear a one click time then continues. If that's the case, chuck out that crap IBM hard drive.

Now, if that's NOT the case, boot to safe mode, make sure you have drivers that are stable and up to date. If you installed anything before the issue, you might as well uninstall it. Also, try a virus/spyware/malware scan.
