Help connecting IDE DVD drive

I have a Dell XPS 200, and I salvaged a few parts from an old Compaq. I have DVD ROM drive (model: DVD-116ME) which uses an IDE connector.

I just want to connect it to my PC to see if it works, but I have no idea how to do this properly.

Any advice?

I suspect you have an IDE cable?

And a port on your motherboard? Connect the two ends, put a power plug in and rock and roll.

Yeah I have a few of those. I've opened my PC and I'm not sure where to look for the IDE port (assuming there is one).

The current drive is a NEC 6650 DVD-RW which uses somthing different.

The IDE connector for your DVD-RW will be on the back. A long but narrow-ish connection with a ribbon cable out the back also...can't really miss it

That's a video some person made that shows what the inside of an XPS 200 looks like.

If there is an IDE port in there, I'm not finding it...

We can get all except the tube, hence why i can post on here

Can you find the IDE cable? - Is there an IDE port on the back of your drive?

I can't tell what the drive uses. It's thinner and smaller than an IDE.
