Hardware entries

After re-assembling one of my machines, I later realized that I placed the modem and NIC into different slots than they were before.

As soon as I checked into the device manager, the entries showed up as "NIC #2, 56k modem #2, etc." Switching the devices back to their respective slots didn't solve the problem.

Is there any way to remove these extraneous entries?

Try Removing the entries in Device Manager, then switching off and switching them around.

They should be detected next time.
