Hard Drive Question

My dad's DELL at work recently crashed, and the DELL IT people came and replaced his hard drive and it started working again. Now I don't know if it was actually the hard drive, the wires or whatever, but here is my question. If i take the supposedly "broken" Hard drive and put it inside my comp just to check it out, is there any possible way in which it will ruin my comp?

Nope. It wont hurt it. The worse that will happen is that the comp wont boot with the bad drive attached. If that happens, just remove the offending drive and all will be well again.
