hard drive installation

i have a western 40 gig hard drive.. and i just got a new maxtor 120 gig hard drive.. i wanna run on both but at the moment am having problems installing it i was thinking about having the 40 as the master and 120 the slave. i changed the jumper settings to what i think it should be
but am a lil unsure if i am putting it in the right spot on the cable..it wont detect either hdd

WD is very picky about the jumper settings, so be sure it's exactly right. I would assume most cables are keyed now, but make sure it's not upside down.

Um...that's about all that hits me at first. Oh, and make sure everything is set in your BIOS. Either go in there and set it or make sure it's on auto.

They should of came with manuals, check those, and in BIOS check if it's even reading them.

ya they didnt come with manuals.. and now if my 40 gig is hooked up it comes up with a blue screen with white text .. some error screen
