Don't know what could have caused this, except for the fact that I put the computer into "sleep" mode last night, and it did not successfully wake up when I tried. Computer started, but nothing loaded onto the monitor, so I performed a hard shut down.
Now, my WD 1TB hard drive, which has two virtual partitions, is not showing any of my content on the first partition. I use the drive for all my downloads and videos (no OS on it.) I'm running Vista 32bit.
Hard drive shows it as having 76gb of information on it, and having 423/499gb free. However, when I open the drive, it is empty.
I can place and run files into the partitions, but all of my previous data is somehow hidden.
Any ideas? I want to avoid running chkdsk initially.
