You can legally smoke at 18. Not saying you should. Some states have it set to 20 for the drinking age.

You can smoke at 16 and drink from 18 over here.

It's 18 for both now has been for about 3/4 years, wonderful isn't it they Tax us smokers hard but then jack the age and pay for anti smoking campaigns, I am half way minded to give up just to stick it to Dave an Co.

Here the drinking age is 21 and smoking / pretty much everything else is 18. I'm not a smoker though

And yes, 20 is my real age
