Then lastly tell us what you need this card for? Are we talking Crysis, Modern Warfare 2, or Spyro?

well my desktop has a Intel i7 930 at 2.8ghz, Asus P6x58D-E mobo, 2x4Gb kingston DDR3 1333 RAM, WD 1 TB hard drive, windows 7 64-bit. I will be running a 23 or 24 inch monitor at 1920 x 1080. And ill be playing tom clancy's rainbow six 3 raven shield, medal of honor 10 anaversary, flight simulator, modern warfare 2.My budget is around 150 to 200 for now, but will be looking to upgrade as soon as it get the money. I have a GeForce4 mx440 SE video card in it right now. Will use it to get the computer up and running cause i know it wont be good for modern games.

I feel your pain. I was running a Radeon x600 in my rig for some time before I bought my....GTS250 xD. They are good cards, but I'd step it up a bit for your rig. Fetch a GTX260 Core216 or, probably a bit better: a Sapphire 5770 VaporX. Sapphire makes pretty damn good cards. Plus it's DX11, so it has a large advantage on the GTX260.

I would recommend this card instead. It is still a Sapphire, same company, same card. More reviews, so it's more trusted. Plus it just looks cleaner

Definitely a good card, but if your end goal is a 5870, go with a medium card for now. So you don't lose a large sum of money on a card you will inevitable replace.
