Hi all,

I am looking at buying a new PC and would like to know the following:

If I select an NVIDIA GeForce GPU that is NVIDIA PhysX Ready, can I forget about adding the AGEIA PhysX Physics Processing Unit, saving me some money and freeing up a PCI slot?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Regards,

PhysX isn't really used in games anyway, that's why nobody bought PhysX cards in the first place.

For 95% of games, physics operations are dealt with through the CPU using Havok or the game's own Physics engine.

And no, you won't need the AGEIA card.

what nVidia cards have the physx built into them?
All the CUDA based GPUs are capable of PhysX processing. Nvidia have only released PhysX drivers for the GTX 2xx cards and the 9800GTX, mainly because it's a reason people might buy them over the 8800s. A simple modded .INF file is all it takes to get PhysX working on another CUDA based GPU, here's how I got it working on my 8800GT: http://www.computerforums.org/showthread.php?t=73761

And here's the list of GPUs: http://www.nvidia.com/object/cuda_learn_products.html
