Hi everyone

iam slightly concerned that my GPU is going to be a bottleneck in my new system?
Will my i7 not perform as high as it should in games because of my GPU?
Specs are as follows

CPU- intel core i7 930 @2.88ghz
GPU- XFX HD5770

Pease help if you can?

Your GPU is no where near powerful enough to bottleneck your CPU, you are quite fine.

You should overclock the 930 though, as it is just asking for it ;)

One more question guys, will my system only run games as fast as the graphics card can handle or will my cpu give an fps increase, if so then by how much would it increase?

Thanks for very quick replys, its great:big_smile:

It would depend on the game. If a game is GPU intensive then the CPU won't make much of a difference. If it is CPU intensive it will give the game a nice boost. There's no way to give a FPS number for it, though. Suffice it to say it would be a lot more than my four year old dual core. ;)

I am playing BF BC2 online with all settings as high as they go with that exact GPU card- using a Phenom (black edition) quad core CPU without any trouble. So, no worries mate.

I think you are confused. With that logic his gpu would bottleneck his cpu. The less powerful part bottlenecks the more powerful part.

Regardless, you have a good gpu dude, so you shouldn't be worrying.

Well, it depends what each of your respective resolutions are. And do you have HBAO on, with max AA and AF? For example, I play at 1920x1200 with no HBA0 with 4x AA and 4x AF. I think I'm getting 50 frames. My card is more powerful than your guys' card though.
