But, sometimes if you dig straight down, you might hit valuable ores or maybe even a mineshaft! Once when I dug down, I found diamonds and another time, I found emerald ore!!!

Note: If you want to get ores easily, you can cheat by using an x-ray texture pack.

Tip: If you are in survivial, in my opinion, the best place to live is in a npc village because you can live in another villagers house and maybe you have an iron golem to protect you.

You can still dig down...just do it in a winding-staircase manner instead of directly below your feet in a straight line down.
