Hi all, have finally got round to doing my new build and need some recommendations mainly on a psu if you could. I have gone for the Akasa Zen case (I know, but I don't have all that much money) but I am stumped regarding the psu.

I need something around the 500W mark with two sata power connectors and can provide enough amps / volts to power the following:

Intel Pentium D 3.4/3.6 Processor (Can't take heatsink off)
Sapphire X850 XT 256MB Graphics Card
DFI INFINITY 975X/G Motherboard (24 Pin)
Standard 250GB Sata II HDD
1 Optical Drive
+Overclocking potential

The main reason why I haven't been able to find anything is the fact that there are some powerful ones out there on the market for $40 or so but are made by the most obscure brands. Someone once told me that the heavier a psu is, the better quality it usually is?

Regards,

Obviously you're in the UK, so you can't use newegg, but this is just for reference:

You really only need around 400 watts, but that's just to be safe / for future upgrades.

This is a great case for the price as well:

That's $120 total, about only £60!! You might have to pay a little more if you can't find as good of deals as newegg has, but that's still a pretty good price.

Generally, you don't want to get a combination case/PSU. The PSU is usually not very good quality.

500 watts is more than enough for that setup though. The CPU isn't what you have to worry about as much as you do the graphics card. And your X800 isn't very powerful, and doesn't need much power.

Try this PSU:

Then pick out pretty much any case, this one isn't bad:

@ J03, that was pretty much a spam comment...

Nah im gonna deffinately get that case. Good value for money and I could use the PSU as a backup server one. Will get a nice Akasa one or something. Thanks for your advice.
