Hey guys, I'm a "hardcore" Xbox gamer, and i've been thinking a lot about switching over from my xbox 360, to a nice new gaming computer.

Here are some of my reasons;
*Xbox seems childish
*Comp gamers are B.A.!
*Comp takes a lot more skill imo (No need to argue it, I don't really care)
*I am BORED of Xbox
*The overall badass'ness of computer gamers, they just are great

Some games I might want to play;
*Warcraft 3
*TF2
*Fallout 3
*Maybe COD4

So I've been thinking about this for a bit, and I just really don't know where to start, I have an xbox arcade with a bunch of games, so I'm guessing I could get atleast $200 for most of my xbox stuff, so I just need one question ansered for me from you awesome computer people;

Where do I start?

Depends on how good of a computer you want mate. You can build yourself a great gaming rig for under $1000 easily, but it all really starts with your budget.

So...what's your budget? :)

For his list of targeted games to play, could go well under $1000.

well ya we could go under 1000 bucks, but you would never want to build a comp that will only play current games well, you want to look down the road to.

Well I actually don't want a really fancy one, because I wont be playing super hi res games, I just want a computer that can play good games at near-best res.

And the cheaper the better, $400 I guess would be a good range. (Once again, I don't need topnotch anything, just good)

Ehh 400 might be close. You could probably get by with a dual core AMD rig. Are you willing to take the time to build it yourself?

If so...

and everything else is pretty much up to you. im not too sure about a good motherboard so wait for someone else to step in on that

Check out Worshipme's thread called the "New Build Guide." Its a great place to start on sample builds and scope out your costs.

Also, keep in mind that labor day is coming up, so there will definitely be sales online and in stores.

Are you willing to build your own computer? If so, we could help you throughout the entire process and build you a great PC.

This is a bit late now but this is same with me hardcore xbox going over to computer just wondering where did you start. that is if you did start playing PC thanks
