found a HDD

ok so i was cleaning my room, and found a PATA HDD thats an 80GB Western Digital drive.

anyway to tell if its still usable just by looking at it? (dumb thing to ask i know)

and when i install it, is there a way to partition it to be its OWN drive for me to store video/music on. Im not good with this aspect of PCs, im more a hardware man.

Physically, you can by inspecting the PCB. These models qill require you to unscrew it and flip to check.

The other way is to shut down the PC and hook it up. Then, go in Disk Management (Right-click Computer and select MAnage).
On the left tab, look for Disk management, and format the partition if that's all is needed.
