Formatting

well basically i wanna format my hard drive but when i go to format it it says 'please close any explorer windows' and i have none open, is there a way to do it without windows?

Yeah. You running from Windows XP? or from another windows?

If you have Windows XP, simply place the cd in at startup and it'll load up and format before re-installing Windows.

You won't be able to format your hard drive while windows is running.

Are you wanting to format c drive or a secondary drive such as D or E drive. if its your main drive then Kage is right he usualy is he knows his stuff. but if its a slave drive then you should be able to do a format from within windows
