Hello. This is my first time building a computer from scratch and picking the parts myself. I did all the research and checked the compatibility and all that. Whats left is ordering it and putting it together. However, as my first time, any advice or tips or help would be great. Below is what I have so far and well, as far as I know everything should be compatible but if someone notices any problem or have a better option for me, their input would be very helpful. I am building a gaming desktop and I dont want to go over $850. I know it wont be a superb desktop but I also dont want it to perform poorly. I plan to have some form of Windows 7 64 bit. Here are the parts that follows.

Western Digital Caviar Blue WD5000AAKX 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

MSI 22X Internal Burner Black IDE Model DH-22AP

ASUS M5A97 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

EVGA 01G-P3-1556-KR GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Fermi) FPB 1GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Modular LED Power Supply

Rosewill RCR-IC002 74-in-1 USB 2.0 3.5" Internal Card Reader w/ USB port / Extra silver face plate

CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9

AMD Athlon II X4 640 Propus 3.0GHz Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor ADX640WFGMBOX

COOLER MASTER Hyper N 520 RR-920-N520-GP 92mm Sleeve CPU Cooler Intel Core i7 compatible

LG Black Blu-ray Drive SATA Model UH12LS28 OEM LightScribe Support - OEM

COOLER MASTER HAF 922 RC-922M-KKN1-GP Black Steel + Plastic and Mesh Bezel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

These are all from newegg.com. I have not added a sound card and will probably do so later on. And also for the blue ray drive and hard drive, ones that are OEM and bare and maybe other things, the motherboard should come with all the cables and such right? I read that it should but just want to make sure and not leave any cables behind when I get it all shipped.

Im also building my first PC and pretty new. Does an AM3 processor work in a AM3+ Motherboard? I was wondering this when building

Also, Computer Part Selection For DIY PC Builders - PCPartPicker is something I have found VERY useful. Ive saved a ton of moneyby getting pieces at different places.

Don't buy a cheap power supply like a Raidmax, Ultra, Apevia, Diablotech, Rosewill, Coolmax, etc..

Buy a decent power supply from a respectable manufacturer like Corsair, Antec, Enermax, OCZ, etc..
